Hasbro Q&A - The Answers (Week 65/Jedi News Week 27)
Reported by James on 20 Dec 2008 12:26

You asked the questions and here's the answers to the 27th batch of questions and our 19th and last batch for 2008.

Thanks to Hasbro and Hunter PR for giving fans around the world a chance to get their voices heard and their questions answered especially here at Jedi News, the UK's premiere and favourite Star Wars fan site.

Thanks for sending in your questions and keep them coming for the next Q&A (take the link above or on the left hand menu), we need your questions for midday on Tuesday 30th December and we'll get the answers back in early 2009.

Read on for the Questions and Answers...

First off, we'd like to say a BIG thank you for all your great help and support in 2008 and we look forward to working with you in 2009.
We wish everybody at Hasbro a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009 - May the Force be with you, always!

Thanks for the merry wishes and we'd like to give you the same tidings in return!  It has certainly been a fantastic year, and it's been our pleasure to work with you to bring so much great Star Wars news to the fans.

1. A lot of collectors no doubt have a list of figures / vehicles / playsets / creatures etc. that they would love to see made, but is there anything on your own personal lists of wanted items that a) you know will be made and you can reveal to us and b) you can say categorically, is never going to see the light of day?

Very soon (mid-February) we will be revealing much more about what is coming next year and are going to hold that information until Toy Fare. Please trust us when we say it is going to be a fantastic year for kids and fans alike.

As for what won't get made, that is a lot easier unfortunately.  One vehicle we would really love to see is the Sail Barge, but the chances of this vehicle ever seeing the light of day are extraordinarily slim.  We can dream, though!  Another one would be a real Krayt Dragon, a virtual impossibility given its massive size.  Even doing a skeleton as a background scenic element is daunting from a costing standpoint (and trust us, we've looked!).  So those are a couple things right there that would be very cool, but will likely never happen.

2. You mentioned recently that a Galactic Heroes Snowspeeder is in the pipeline, and with that in mind, can you share an image of what the new 2009 Galactic Heroes Snowspeeder will look like and tell us what figure(s) it will come packaged with?  Can you also advise what the likely date for UK availability will be?

Here you go [The picture was not attached but we're chasing it].  This should give you a good idea of how cool this one will be.  We do not know yet when it will be exactly available in the UK, but our expectation is around April or May.

3. There are lots of new characters coming out of The Clone Wars, but in particular I would like to know if Hasbro will be releasing a Senate Commando figure (the blue armoured variant of the Senate Guard)?  If so, how likely are we to see a red variant as an "off camera" Red Guard Commando?

Yes indeed, we will be releasing a blue guard next year in the Clone Wars basic figure lineup.  No plan for a red version yet, but if it shows up in the animation it's a good bet we'll follow.
